This is how you do it. Goddess Brighid Meditation
Make yourself comfortable and sit straight or lie down. Just make yourself at ease with your body and close your eyes. Start by taking deep breaths and feel the air filling the life force in your body. Know that as you breathe in, you take in the oxygen which is life force. Breathe in life force and exhale all the negative thoughts. Breathe in life force, and feel its positive energy filling inside you. Take a deep breath, exhale. Exhale all the thoughts that may bother you. This is your moment! This is the moment when you visit your inner temple. Notice your body, feel the sensations that are caused as you take in the life force within you. This body is your home where your soul resides. This body is the magic with which you can manifest anything that you desire. Imagine that you are in a forest. Notice your surroundings, the sounds, the air. You feel a connection with every inch of this forest. You walk and admire the surroundings. Notice the ground beneath your feet that’s covered with wild grass. The trees stand tall as if trying to reach the sun. You hear the song of the birds, filling your heart with a pleasant feeling, a joy like never before. You realize that the birds are singing to you, urging you move forward. You walk slowly, appreciating the beauty of this forest that has chosen you. You notice that there are mountains ahead and that makes you smile. You decide that you want to go to the Mountains. Something about them calls to you. You walk and notice that the song of birds is growing clearer and clearer. You keep moving until you reach them. You realize the Mountain you were seeing before is not a Mountain at all, but a huge cave. The beauty of the scene catches your breath! An uncountable number of birds are singing, some are resting in their nests while they sing, some are sitting on branches and some flying out of the cave and coming signing the most pleasant song you have ever heard! You take a deep breath and take a step further reaching out to the cave. The interior of the cave is peaceful and calming. You go farther, following the light that comes in from the other end of the cave. More birds comes flying from the other side of cave going toward the forest. You are just a step away from the mouth of the cave and the scene you are seeing makes the forest you left behind look like nothing in comparison. You are in a farm now. The trees, the plants are all well grown under care. The birds here are not signing but the peaceful silence here is better than any sound or any song you can ever hear. The birds fly toward the cave and you smile. You continue your journey deeper into the farms. A Well catches your eye. You walk toward it and as you reach it, you notice that there are several coins offered inside the depths of this Wishing Well. You check your pockets and take out a coin. You hold the coin with both of your hands, close to your heart and close your eyes. “Goddess, I am grateful for the beautiful place you have shown me today.” You open your eyes and offer the coin to the Wishing Well. You take a deep breath and look for a place where you can sit and just look at this beautiful and peaceful farm. A fire catches your eye. “What is it?” you wonder and move forward to the flame. They grow brighter and brighter. As you reach the flames you notice it is not a flame but Goddess Brighid smiling at you and the fire you saw earlier are the flames rising from her head. You kneel in front of the Goddess. The heat from her flames is reaching out to you in a gentle caress of warmth. “Rise up my child.” The Goddess tells you. You notice her voice is a caramel to your ears. Something is in her voice that is Maternal, commanding and yet a healing force of love. You stand up straight and thank the Goddess for choosing you to show herself. “I am always there for you my child. Sometimes the hardships of life can make you feel otherwise, but a Mother can’t forget her children and so I watch over you every moment even when you feel down and negative.” She says as she smiles, and her eyes- they tell you that she is indeed telling you the truth. “Goddess! Is there anything I need to be warned of or anything I did the wrong way?” You ask her. Her eyes shine brighter and her smile grows even wider. “My child, just know that whenever you feel low and down in your life, don’t lose hope. I am watching over you, no matter how bad the circumstances might appear but know that it will pass. Life is a cycle of transience and if you understand this, no one or nothing can break your spirit. The hardships that your life may unleash on you are just the steps necessary in order to shape you as a better person because you can’t feel the joy of victory if you don’t know the sorrow of failure.” You smile and nod. “Thank you Goddess. I will always remember that.” You tell her. She nods back and the flames from her head grow higher and higher. She raises her hand in the sky and fire light up from them, swirling all around you until you are encircled within the flames. But for some reason the heat from the flames is comforting. “These flames will burn all your negative thoughts, will melt all the glaciers of self sabotage and bring the spring of happiness, self love and healing within you.” You hear the Goddess saying while the flames around you are doing their task. A hope grows in your heart- the hope of love, healing and joy. With each moment as the flames do their work, this blissful hope burns within you. Almost like a seed germinating faster with each moment, the hope consumes you until you know you can accomplish anything in your life because you have the power to do so. You know that the purest and the richest form of magic exist within you! You are magic! And most importantly, you are the child of the Goddess. With each breath you take in, you realize how special you are. All at ones the flames snuff out and you see Goddess Brighid is not there. You search for her in the farms, behind the trees but don’t find her. Then you stop. The Goddess said she is with me, whether I see her or not and the thought makes you smile. You know that she is with you, around you and within you taking care of her child. You walk back to the cave and reach the forests. You now understand what the birds are singing- it’s the song of hope. Take in deep breaths and return to your body. Open your eyes and see the world with your new eyes and know that the Goddess is still watching over you. Find a comfortable place where you can relax and visit your inner temple. You can sit on a cushion or lie down and just close your eyes. Count till ten and as you count, breathe out all your worries and stress and just relax. Spend this moment just to feel your body- this is the place where your soul resides. Imagine that you are lying down on the ground under the Full Moon. Look at the serene beauty of this pleasant night. The weather around you, the texture of the ground beneath you, just notice these details while you look at the Moon. Ask the Moon to make this night a special one and as you breathe in, feel the air going inside you. Feel the energy that is building inside you. You feel calm and peaceful and yet powerful at the same time. You notice the energy that is building up around you. This energy is blessed by the Moon. You see that it has taken a serpentine form. Notice its color, its texture. This serpentine form of energy entwines around you. As you breathe in, the energy rises above and above until its surrounds you from the tips of your toes to your head and all the way through you crown chakra. You think of Goddess Medusa and how she is associated with the cycle of life, death and rebirth. This knowledge fills you with joy and peace. So you take a moment to feel the life force within you. Breathe in deeply and exhale. Feel the life force that flows through your body, this life force makes you capable of achieving anything in your life. Breathe in deeply an exhale, just feeling your body and the power you have. Something might still hold you back and you may even be oblivious to it. Any insecurity, any grief, feeling of self-blame or regret over an event from past. It lies within your heart chakra in form of a black cloud. No matter what negative emotion it is or what barrier it is, you take a deep breath and visualize this negative barrier dissolving with the power of Moonlight. Take a deep breath, feel it dissolving this barrier and exhale. Breathe in deeply, and feel all your negative emotions and barriers dissolving tonight under the Moonlight. Repeat the process a few more times, until no trace of this negativity exists within you. Know that when you erased these barriers, you completed the death stage of the cycle because you let go of all the negativity. Breathe in deeply and exhale. Feel the air going inside you. Feel the serpentine energy that surrounds you and shapes you as a better person. Now that you have let go of all the negative thoughts, you are ready to become a new person and start your life anew. Take a deep breath and take a moment to just admire the beauty of the life you have been given. This moment is the moment of your rebirth. Feel yourself emerging as a new person. Take a deep breath and exhale. Breathe in deeply and exhale and open your eyes. See the world with your new eyes and know that you are reborn to this moment. You can manifest anything you want because you know the truth of the life is- life, death and rebirth. Thanks the Moon and Goddess Medusa. Meditation copyright Silver Moonfaith. Do not copy. Achelois is a minor lunar Goddess from the Greek pantheon. Her epithets are "She who drives away the pain" or "she who washes the pain away" or "she who cast away the pain" are also the literal meaning of her name. Unfortunately, not much information is available about her but she is a primordial Goddess. Some sources say that she might be the daughter of Asclepius and Epione, or Pierus. Her siblings are Aegle, Hygeia, Panakeia, and Iaso (Asclepius and Epione) or Neilo, Triton, Asopo, Heptapora, Tipoplo and Rhodia (Pierus). Being related to Hygeia and Asclepius is tells her that she indeed is a goddess of healing because the family of Asclepius was once venerated as a mini-pantheon of healing. Epidarus is believed to be the cult centre of Goddess in ancient times. Achelios can be petitioned was you are suffering from stress due to hectic life styles and want to heal yourself with divine intervention. She can also be petitioned by those who work in the medical or pharmaceutical industry. She is a Goddess with soft and nurturing nature. The Goddess was loved by everyone because of her healing and loving nature. But according to Tzetzes Achelois was one of the Muses said to be the daughters of Pierus. Despite being a minor goddess, she is a spirit of immense power and belongs to the Greek pantheon. The resemblance in her name and the word “Sorceress” is not a co-incidence. She knows all the mysteries of witchcraft, shamanism, necromancy, metamorphosis and illusion. She has profound knowledge of herbs, potions and incantations. Different sources tell her different parentage. She is the daughter of the Titan sun god- Helios and an Oceanid nymph- Perseis according to the Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology while Greek historian Diodorus Siculus’ Library of History states that she is daughter of Hekate and Aeetes. She is a shape-shifter and can manifest in whatever form way she wants but she is generally manifested as a fair-headed beautiful and young woman. Being a daughter of the sun, her eyes have a glint of brilliant light. There are various myths related to the goddess. It is believed that she married a prince to gain ruler-worship of a kingdom near the Black Sea and poisoned him to become the sole leader of the kingdom due to which she was exiled to live in Aeaea, the island which was enchanted in itself. Some people believe that the name of the island being the same as spelled backwards or spelled forward (Aeaea being a palindrome) is the reason for the island being enchanted. Circe transformed her island to an ethereal paradise-like place. There she spent her days singing and weaving and lived with her priestesses to whom she taught sorcery. Another myth states that both Medae and Jason went to Circe for performing a cleansing ritual on them after they murdered Medae’s brother- Absyrtus (Circe’s nephew). Another myth involves the sea god Glaucus. Glaucus was in love with a beautiful girl- Scylla. Since Glaucus became the sea god he transformed into a half man, half fish with long strands of seaweed in place of hair. Due to his appearance Scylla feared and rejected Glaucus. He went to Circe and asked for a spell to make Scylla love him. Instead of help, Circe offered him her love but Glaucus wanted no one but Scylla. This made the goddess jealous and she enchanted the water where Scylla was swimming and transformed her to a horrible six headed-sea monster. Another myth, perhaps the most famous of all involves Odysseus and his crew. Odysseus while returning from the Trojan War was sailing by Aeaea and stopped there struck by the beauty of the island. They saw beautiful plants and Lions, Baboons and Pigs. The animals didn’t seem harmful and it was as if they welcomed them. These were the men transformed into animals by Circe. It is said that she didn’t chose these transformations at random, it was the true identity of people which revealed itself in the faces of animals. Circe invited all of them to a feast to which everyone accepted except for Odysseus. Circe offered the crew member to drink a potion from her goblet and when they drank, they transformed into pigs. Eurylochus didn’t accept the goblet and went tell Odysseus about what had happened. Odysseus decided to demand his people back from Circe in person. As he went he met a man (Hermes in disguise) who warned him that Circe would try to enchant her. He told him to not to fell for the trap and take out his sword if things go sour. He also gave him a mysterious herb, Moly which was an antidote to Circe’s enchantments. Odysseus went to Circe and demanded his people back, but he wasn’t surprised when the enchantress tried her charms on her. He took out his sword and threatened to kill her. She transformed his men back and offered to entertain them if they stayed. The crew members agreed and they stayed at Aeaea for a year. Circe became mother of three sons of Odysseus- Telegonus, Agrius, and Latinus. Circe also taught Odysseus Shamanism, journey to Hades and interviewing dead people. She also helped him return home and have a safe journey. Circe’s association with Goddess Hekate are plentiful. Some sources say she was the daughter of Hekate, some states that Circe sold her soul in order to gain secret knowledge of witchcraft from Hekate, other say that she was a student of Hecate. In an Italian version of this legend, Telegonus traveled to Ithaca to seek his father but then killed him by accident. He brought Odysseus's body back to Aeaea, accompanied by Odysseus's widow, Penelope, and their son Telemachus. Circe made them all immortal and married Telemachus, and Telegonus married Penelope. (Quoted from Myths Encyclopedia) She is also the mother of Aega, the sun goddess. Telegonus also ruled over Tyrsenians. Circe may be invoked for fertility, cleansing and for revealing true identity of a person. Circe is also associated with the Falcon, circling her prey until caught. She is portrayed with a wand or staff in one hand and offering a goblet in other hand. In a nutshell, Circe is a Greek goddess with immense knowledge of potions, incantations, herbs, sorcery, necromancy, shape-shifting and shamanism. She is young and beautiful and an enchantress in every sense. She doesn’t tolerate people who she dislikes. Click here to see the prayer I wrote for the Goddess. Sources:
